I’ve never thought to write a monthly goals post, but loved this idea from The Confused Millennial! I’m thinking it will be really nice to look back at the end of the month and see what I have accomplished and what I need to be more intentional about. I broke down my goals into three categories.
Schedule Doctor’s Appointments | I don’t know about you, but as a parent appointments for myself have become a really low priority. This month I need to be intentional about maintaining my own health.
Workout | You know when you are really in the swing of working out regularly and then you take a 3-4 month break and it feels super overwhelming to get back into it?! That’s where I am at. My boys tend to be couch potatoes if I let them (not unlike me) so I really want to develop and demonstrate to them a habit of working out. My goal for this month is to workout 3 times per week.
Keep Up with Reading | I am currently in a Bible study, a discipleship group, and a Refuge Community Group. For the Bible study we are reading Jen Wilkins book Women of the Word, for discipleship we are reading parts of Tim Keller’s book Prayer, and for RefCom we are delving deeper into 1 Corinthians (our current sermon series). This week I’ve noticed that keeping up with this reading has been a joy, rather than a burden. The burden is when I get behind. My goal is to keep up with all of it this month.
Paint the Kitchen | Our kitchen has had paint swatches on the wall since we moved in in July. November is THE month this is going to be remedied.
Checkoff List of Small Projects | We have had a list of small things that need to be hung in the playroom and the boys bedroom. The boys bedroom still has plaster walls to I haven’t attempted it on my own, and Mark’s school/work schedule has kept him busy. I would like to knock these things out this month!
Family Activities | We had so much fun going to the pumpkin patch last month! This month, I would like us to have two family outings. Stay tuned for lots of pictures of cute boys:)
Christmas Planning | We are a family of last minute shoppers. This year the budget does not allow for that! I’d like to finalize our plans and start on some of our homemade gifts!
Meal Planning/Cooking | I used to be in the habit of meal planning. By that I mean, I would plan a list of meals for the week, shop specifically for that list, and cook all the meals on that list. I am telling you, it saved us a ton of money! Lately though, I plan here or there and then the meal might feel overwhelming on a given night and I switch to something easy. We end up wasting some food or making quick grocery runs multiple times per week. With Mark working evenings, I am also needing to find a different schedule for cooking. As soon as I step foot in the kitchen to prep dinner, my kids need 17 different things. It is seriously like a light switch goes on. I’m thinking if I could muster up the energy to prep multiple meals one evening per week after they are in bed, I would be a much happier mama.
Research Social Media Marketing | If you are like me you spend at least 15 minutes a day scrolling through your Facebook newsfeed. In this season of life, I’m realizing that I don’t actually have those extra 15 minutes of time in my day and need to stop borrowing from things that I should be doing. This month I’d like to intentionally close Facebook and focus that time on marketing research for both my blog and youtube channel.
Film/Edit Videos | This month I would like to challenge myself to film and edit at least one video per week. This YouTube stuff is a lot more work than Lindsey and I thought, so we need to be building up a stash of vids to post more regularly.
Check off my To Do List | I have a notepad at my desk with a list of small administrative tasks related to this blog that has continued to build up. This month, I want that list to be gone!
Create a Content Calendar | Currently I have been posting here and there, whenever inspiration strikes. I have a notebook full of things I would like to write about, but many require planning when it comes to photographs and the like. And let me tell you photographs take a bit of effort around here as our house has a tendency to look a bit chaotic and we rock pjs and bedhead most days. Ha!
